We are actively seeking a Second Mate to join the crew of the OCEAN TRAVERSE NORD to assist with dredging operations.

YOUR TALENTS WILL BE USED TO MEET THE FOLLOWING CHALLENGES:

  • Implement the master’s guidelines and assist the latter in the safe operation of the vessel.
  • Check the proper functioning of navigation instruments and controls.
  • Obtain required authorizations for navigation.
  • Determine the course of the vessel using navigation tools.
  • Review weather records.
  • Determine the vessel’s geographical position and speed using navigation instruments.
  • Pilot the vessel according to planned routes and schedules and monitor its stability.
  • Plan and carry out the safe passage of the vessel in confined or dangerous areas.
  • Perform docking and undocking manoeuvres.
  • Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

 

OUR IDEAL COLLEAGUE HAS:

  • Watchkeeping Mate, Near Coastal
  • STCW basic safety MED
  • MED with respect to Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats
  • MED in advanced fire fighting
  • Certificate of Proficiency for Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
  • General Operator Certificate (GOC)
  • Marine Advanced First Aid
  • Valid Canadian passport
  • Languages:
    • Advanced level of English, both spoken and written
    • Advanced level of French, spoken and written (asset)
